What I love about vacation (so far)

On our way to the beach we decided to stop in Portland because, why not.
We've had a great first day. Elaina did well in the car we only had to stop twice and only drove through  25 minutes of crying but that was about 4 miles so we can't blame her.  We are in a great hotel in a great spot.

My favorite part of vacation is imagining our lives in different scenarios and the fun we have talking about what it'd be like to live "here". In Portland it's - sell almost everything and live an urban lifestyle. Play at parks and in fountains every night. Explore book stores and thrift stores. Walk to dinner and to the drug store for Tylenol.  Portland is just a much more livable downtown from ours. It's not divided up by lakes and highways and huge hills. It's walkable and it's interesting. But we are visitors and it's a beautiful day so I'm sure it's always like this.

Elaina and I went on a nice walk exploring/trying to find a drug store while Evan put the boys to bed. She loves to be out in the fresh air and seeing/meeting new people.

It's such a treat to have live tv. Seems silly thing to enjoy on vacation but we don't have/can't get live tv at home so it's a nice treat.

I. Love the reward of a great meal after researching where to go.

Tomorrow is the science museum and trying out some coffee shops that get great reviews. The. We head to the beach where it's supposed to rain, but that's kinda the thing with the Oregon Coast.  We all can't wait!
