Our new home (crossing fingers)
At 2:00 today we are going to sign a rental agreement and arrange the details on our soon-to-be rental house! After much agonizing yesterday we decided on this house near an area called Green Lake. Yesterday we also found an apartment in a house with 5 other apartments. It was also nice, we liked the space, large enough, had a decent yard and was in a stellar location.....Right where we thought we wanted to be. It was a bit cheaper than the house we decided on but for multiple reasons we decided on the house. #1 reason is it is it's own structure; we won't have neighbors upstairs and downstairs. #2 reason it's RIGHT on the commuter bus line so Evan will have a 45 minute commute to work on the bus which means he can actauly do work for 1.5 hours a day commute instead of sit in traffic and go crazy. #3 reason it's an actual house that people live in so they have taken good care of it and they care what it looks like since it's theirs and the live there. We weighed the options, like how likely are we REALLY to walk to the grocery store or to dinner? We are still a quick drive to everything we want we are just in a more residential neighborhood.
We are pretty excited. What we have seen in this price range doesn't even compare to this place so I think we're getting a pretty good deal. Hopefully everything will go off with out a hitch and we'll have pictures soon to show of our place. Anticipated move in date is Sept 27th so we've got some time to kill before we get to have it be ours but we are pretty excited. Our only decision is if we want to lock in at this rent for 2 years or if we want to take a 1 year lease with the possibility of a price increase in another year if/when we renew. A year really is not THAT LONG in the scheme of things.....
ON a few other notes: I thought I loved the washer/dryer combo thing but turns out I was using it wrong.....meaning I wasn't actualy washing the clothes, just drying them. oops! We've been eating out far too much, at least once a day since we got here....that stops today. We are having Camaron over for dinner tonight so we can eat in. Tomorrow we are starting to do some touristy things, on our own. We've got about 5 days till Evan (and hopefully I do also) start working and the weather is great so time to get out and get some expoloring done!
We're off to the "other side" to finalize our new housing. More from us later this week hopefully with house pics and job news from me.
Happy Labor day!
