Good Bye St. Louis!
This entry finds me sitting on the floor in my almost completely empty (should be more empty though) apartment while Evan and Chuck take the remains of the desk to the garbage bin we've claimed as our own this weekend.
No a WHOLE lot of time to write so here are the hightlights
* The thesis defense went so well yesterday. I was so impressed and SO PROUD of my husband he was a natural up there and I actualy kept up for 40 out of the 53 minutes! Yeah!
*The inlaws made in down to witness also we all now know that Evan did in fact learn a few things in his 9 years here so that is good!
*We had a great happy hour w/ the lab members and a few thesis committee members and the Keiblers.
* My parents are life savers with some cleaning supplies, rags and elbow grease. This place looks better than it did before we moved in for sure. My mom is a miracle worker. Dad washed all the blinds, which probably has never been done before in this place.
*We had a great dinner with friends and my family
*The Loo's and the Martins have been kind enough to open their homes and their fridges and everything to us. We are so greatful.
* We have our temporary housing location. about 2 minutes away from Microsoft. Lucky Evan. It's just temporary so anything will be fine. I just want to BE THERE already.
Tonight is dinner with the Keiblers and then one last night out, me with the girls for martini's and Evan with the guys for some combination of poker/Halo/boyish activities. Evan got a fine bottle of scotch last night to share with the boys. On the way home he dropped it and lost the rest of it. Perhaps he had too much of it already?!?! I think he deserved it!
The final note: The weather forcast for Monday is PERFECTO!! high of 82 with rain! So Casey DOES get to go with us to Seattle after all. Casey however is not doing well with this moving thing. The poor dog has been uprooted every day/evening and when he does get to come here, which is rare due to how clean it is and how clean I want it to stay, none of his things are here and he's confined to the front room where there is no carpet. Unfortunately things are going to get worse before they get better but in a short enough time period he will be back to some sort of normalcy and enjoying live again.
More from us when we get to Seattle!
